Photo Shoot

I love pictures.  It is so fun to look and see how everyone changes and to capture the moments of life.  I looked into professional pictures of Alex but $400 is a little steep.  So Mom and I made our own props and set up our own pictures.  Thanks to digital cameras hundreds of pictures is easy.  Keep the good ones and erase the not so good ones.  I loved the red and black that Alex's nursery is done in.  We used the quilt I made him (my first sewing attempt), my dad's "Old Red" baseball mitt, baskets draped in scraps of material, baseballs, and a very cooperative baby boy.  I love all the little features of my Alex.

Meeting Baby Alex

Grandma Robins and Katie brought Ashton up to see me in the morning while Shyann was at school.
The following pictures show "my boys"!

Alex hadn't had a bath yet so Ashton got to watch his brother's first bath through the nursery window.  Alex did not like his bath.

All clean!

Rick went home to get Shyann from school.  She got to meet her brother on her own.  She was so excited to have him to herself.  She is going to be a great helper!

Hospital photos have changed since Ashton.  They now have a photographer that comes and does a photo shoot of the baby.  I had Alex's new airplane blanket.  The colors turned out beautiful in the photos.  He was such an angel.  My favorite shot is Alex and Ashton together.  I hope they will be great friends!

Alex Porter

February 9, 2012
I was at work when the contractions started around 7:30 pm.  I called Grandma Robins and Rick and told them I think we are going to have a baby tonight.  I started to watch the clock and the contractions seemed to be every seven to ten minutes.  Ashley asked if I needed to call Eric and I declined.  I could make it until 9pm.  Around 8:45 the contractions started to get harder and more uncomfortable.  Ashley drove me home. I got my bag, had Rick give me a blessing, then called Grandma Robins and headed to the hospital.  We drove to LDS hospital and were admitted.  I was at 7cm.  Dr. Laine was the "doc in the box" and already at the hospital.  I had the epidural immediately and they broke my water.  I remember looking at the clock and it was 11:20 pm.  I thought there was no way we would have a baby on Thursday.  (Both Ashton and Shyann were born on a Thursday).  The nurse went to check on another patient and Dr. Laine checked me. You were crowning and ready to come.  Dr. Laine called for the nurse, looked at me and asked if I was ready.  It was time.  Three pushes and handsome Alex Porter Everett was placed in my arms.  He was born at 11:56 pm!  He made Thursday to keep up with his siblings!!

Starting Out!

I have wanted to start a blog for sometime and have finally found a few minutes to begin.  Between work for hire and work for love time is sometimes scarce around my house.  My goal is to try to capture the little moments of our family and share it with friends and family.  Hope you all enjoy!
